Welcome to the ‘burbs

Doesn’t this new site feel so much like the ‘burbs? Like we left the harsh city and went to the country — and are drinking lemonade?
Don’t think I’ve gone all soft on you folks, I so haven’t. But when I was looking for templates for this site, there was shocking few that had what I was looking for. And since Snarkville doesn’t pay the rent around here, I’m not hiring anyone to build one for me — so this may change over time, but it will be by my sweat, dang it.

On to the actual post of the day.  But first — check out this new tool I have: Pretty nifty huh?  I know the Queen can be easily amused.  You’ll understand why in a few minutes.

Yesterday (seemed like so far away) — ok, yes, yesterday.  I took Duke to LEVEL ONE swim class.  You know the class that was to have 3 teachers and 3 kids?  Yes?  Well, turns out that the class had 6 kids to 2 teachers.  However, my Duke had one of his moments of great attention span and FOCUS.  (Yes, I too was a little shocked.)  He sat on the top step and kicked when they said kick, blew bubbles on command, all the stuff.  Mama was proud.  Mama was also a ball of nerves, because Duke was the ONLY child in the class that can’t touch the bottom in 3.5 feet of water.  He’s also the youngest by about 1 and a half (and yes, the only one in a swim diaper).  But alas, other than making the lifeguard (who took a shine to Duke) take his shoes off once; Duke was the picture of a good boy.  He even sat on the chair and told me, “I wait turn.”  Yes, it makes a mother proud.

After swim class and the return to school, which went as expected but the fit didn’t last long.  Prince took the Queen out to lunch.  We went to a new (for us) Thai place in Snarkville.  They didn’t have my favorite (read: pretty much why I go to Thai) item, so I asked for their Pad Thai with no peanuts.  (Sidenote: in case you haven’t been exposed to the Queen’s eating habits, they do not involve any nuts or peanuts.  I will eat a cashew — but peanuts don’t like me at all.)  When it came out I have to say it was hands down the best Pad Thai I’d ever had.  We were still talking about it over dinner that evening.

Back to work, and then when the boys got home, we escaped the heat (yes, while the AC will have some effect on the insane heat — there are a few hours a day that aren’t the most comfortable).  We put Duke to bed and I got to working here on the new Snarkville.

At 10pm, Prince decided he was tired and went to bed.  I was still working.  At 11pm, I thought, “hmm perhaps I should stop and get some sleep.”  Silly me, I couldn’t get comfy, so I got back up.  I ended up watching a movie and a half before letting sweet sleep take me.  I went to bed at 5am.  So, if the Queen is a wee bit punchy today, you’ll understand.
