Did you know that today is not Friday?

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I have no idea what is going on with my days of the week this week. I woke up this morning thinking today was Friday — only it isn’t. I think I’m thrown by the whole end of the month today, end of the week tomorrow — or, I’m just losing my mind.

So, I have a photo packed post planned for later (check back LATE tonight), I thought I’d share a little scene in our house LAST night.

I am Loved & have a bowling bag on its way.

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Or at the very least, I have readers with opinions.  I loved ALL the comments about my bag choice.  I’m still totally undecided, but since league begins exactly a week from TODAY — SIDENOTE: HELP.  I don’t bowl well.  I’m going to make a complete fool of myself.  I’m not good when I’m completely incompetant.  DEEP BREATH.  Ok, I’ll be ok.  Hang on while I stop letting my insecurity show.

Ok, back to the bag.  Since I need the bag to basically ship TODAY if I have any hope of it getting here by Wednesday, I e-mailed the seller of the bags.  (For the record, with the private e-mails I got it was a TIE between the burgundy one and the green one.)  I said, “Look, I’m horrible at this and can’t make a decision.  Since they are basically the same price, put one of them in a box for me and ship it.”  He e-mails me back and says, “cool.”

So my hope was that he’d not TELL me which one I’d get and it would be like an early birthday present.  Folks, you aren’t forgetting my birthday are you??  So, you can imagine my shock, when he was all, “Ok, and Thank You.  I’ll send you the….”

Time to Help the Queen

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Kindly, give your opinion of the following three bowling bags. Currently the Queen is searching for exactly the RIGHT bag with which she should carry her ball, new shoes, and STUFF to bowling league night. Yes, she is ONLY considering vintage bags. Please share your thoughts and I will be happy to post the bag I decide on.

Green Tapestry , Plaid Fun, OR Burgundy and White

So, it would be time to share your opinions. I’m thinking of ordering it this evening.

Potato Chip Prince

I often joke that my sweet husband doesn’t know why we put kitchens in houses.  For awhile I’d say that he thinks we only store Cokes in the kitchen and dinner is done by magic.  However, once he got his very own Soda Machine; he has no real reason for walking into the kitchen. EVER.

Can we nit pick or what?

Friday, August 25th, 2006

It has been what, a whole week that I’ve mocked my mother’s club.  However, this series of e-mails are SO worthy.

I’d write notes, but these are too good and completely stand on their own.

Wow, I’m really growing up.

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

First, I know it has been like a day or so — which is totally not normal for me. However, I must admit that since BlogHer, my list of blog reading got too big and I am now forced to trim, lest I spend every waking hour reading and none writing or bathing — yes, we can debate later as to which is worse.

Birthday Month is Fast Approaching

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

(The Queen Mum is either laughing as she knows I’ve always had this odd relationship with my birthday OR she’s horrified at my complete lack of social skills.  I assure you, it may be some odd combination of both.)

My mother’s horror or laughter notwithstanding, yes, the birthday month is rapidly approaching.  Now, I’m not going all crazy like my friend Karl (see, Mother, it is a September birthday thing — perhaps a mid-September birthday thing.)  But then again, I’m turning 33, not 40.

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

My son is so very much like me.  Prince used to note that one (of the many) weird things about me is that if I had to get up to go to work, I’d stay in bed as long as humanly possible.  It just was not possible for me to wake up bright and cheery on a work day.  However, on Saturday, I couldn’t sit still.  I’d bounce out of bed by 7am bright and ready to take on my world.  This seems to annoy the Prince to no end.

Robert Burns was right…

Monday, August 21st, 2006

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best-laid schemes o’ mice an ‘men
Gang aft agley,

An’lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

Still thou art blest, compar’d wi’ me
The present only toucheth thee:
But, Och! I backward cast my e’e.
On prospects drear!
An’ forward, tho’ I canna see,
I guess an’ fear!

—– Excerpt from To a Mouse on Turning Up Her Nest with a Plough

Is it possible that it is really Monday? Are we 100% positive and sure that I was not SO exhausted last night that I completely slept through Monday and now today is Tuesday?

Let me back up. Prince was not home much of this weekend. Friday and much of the day Saturday he was doing (and I quote my own mother here) “Guy-Car-Things” and Sunday he was babysitting. Ok, not a problem. I had a plan, there was fun to be had and it was going to be a good weekend. Only, my plan failed.

Hello, Grand Central Station

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Yes, it has felt a little (ok, a lot) like Grand Central around here since the boys arrived home last night.  You know that feeling where you are running in 90 billion directions at once?  My house doesn’t exactly have 90 billion directions to run in, so you have to guess that a few of them caused collisions between Prince, Duke, and me.  Only Duke found this funny.
