I am Loved & have a bowling bag on its way.

August 30th, 2006

Or at the very least, I have readers with opinions.  I loved ALL the comments about my bag choice.  I’m still totally undecided, but since league begins exactly a week from TODAY — SIDENOTE: HELP.  I don’t bowl well.  I’m going to make a complete fool of myself.  I’m not good when I’m completely incompetant.  DEEP BREATH.  Ok, I’ll be ok.  Hang on while I stop letting my insecurity show.

Ok, back to the bag.  Since I need the bag to basically ship TODAY if I have any hope of it getting here by Wednesday, I e-mailed the seller of the bags.  (For the record, with the private e-mails I got it was a TIE between the burgundy one and the green one.)  I said, “Look, I’m horrible at this and can’t make a decision.  Since they are basically the same price, put one of them in a box for me and ship it.”  He e-mails me back and says, “cool.”

So my hope was that he’d not TELL me which one I’d get and it would be like an early birthday present.  Folks, you aren’t forgetting my birthday are you??  So, you can imagine my shock, when he was all, “Ok, and Thank You.  I’ll send you the….”

teehee.  I love suspense.

So, he is sending me the burgundy one!!!  I am rather thrilled actually.  I loved the green one, don’t get me wrong — even if I think that fabric would have gone oh, so well, in my grandmother’s house.  But, I think the classic nature of the burgundy one will live longer in my “I love my bowling bag” column than the ‘trendy’ green one.  But I could just be rationalizing.  Who knows.

Anyway, it is burgundy or bust now.  I’m waiting for the UPS man to come to the door with Prince’s new bowling ball and my shoes.  Hopefully, I’ll get photos of them for you.  Also, in bowling news, Prince and I are going out for a bowling date to test drive his new ball and my new shoes.  We so know how to have fun.

In other news, I’m beginning to make more solid plans for celebrating the BIRTHDAY.  I want to do something fun and special and exciting, because let’s review my last few birthdays:

The 30th: I’m pretty sure I slept through this one, since I’d just had a baby a mere month before.

The 31st: Ok, this WAS special.  I was on the QM2 for a transatlantic cruise from Southhampton to NYC.  That was cool.  The odd thing about this trip was that I made the family go to an IKEA outside London, just to get the BEST bibs in world that weren’t in the US for like 6 months.

The 32nd: I was homeless.  Wow, what a letdown after the 31st, huh?  Well, it is true.  On my 32nd birthday, we began the cross country trek from East Coast to West.  We had my birthday dinner in an O’Charley’s in OH.  That night we lost one of the cats inside the box springs of the bed.  We got her back, but not without some hard work.  My birthday began 8 days across country.

Now, do you wonder why I’m ready for the Birthday MONTH?  I think I need Birthday Month.  So, since you, my sweet internet friends, had such great bowling bag advice.  Do share what you think would make Birthday Month special.  (And a special note to Karl — NO, I’m not taking dares.)

  1. The burgundy was my second choice.

    Happy birthday MONTH.

  2. A visit to see your bestest friend to go yarn shopping after a 4 month buying hiatus! And having a kool-aid dyeing party. And perhaps sharing several yummy desserts? Yep, that would make a perfect birthday month for me!

Oh - and burgundy was my 2nd choice too, so I won’t feel completely disappointed. If I was ever to buy a bowling ball bag (not that that will ever happen), I would have to have a really funky one as well. Perhaps with funky shoes. And a cool glove? And definitely a sparkly pink ball. And maybe a tiara. This could be an expensive proposition!

  3. Yay, burgundy!

And you should totally go the dares route.

  4. What would make Birthday Month special? How about a visit to the East Coast, filled with all the yarn and dyeing a girl could want? I’ll even make a cake! OK, just wishful thinking on my part. But it would be really fun - think Prince would go for it?
