The Day we all became 3

September 16th, 2006

Yes, today everyone in my house took on the age of 3. While I think it is pretty neat, Prince thinks I’m nuts and Duke was unimpressed when I explained that I was 3 today.

Since I’m a little tired I’m going to sum up in bullet points — but to sum up my sum up. I’ve had a very good day.

  1. I made it to my SockAnon meeting and took my sock yarn for pattern help. I ended up starting another sock, but got some ideas on patterns too.
  2. I got money out of a drive-up ATM machine. In the process of taking the cash out, I dropped a $20. I had parked REALLY close, so I could reach the buttons, and now could not get the bill off the ground. It took me 5 minutes, taking off my shoe, and picking up the bill with my toes. Yes, I firmly believe people were laughing at me.
  3. Duke SANG “Happy Birthday” to me as I crawled back into bed. Yes, I cried a little. No, I’ve not quiet let him go yet from hugging him.
  4. I went to dinner with my husband to a French place in town. It was YUMMY. It was in an old house with a completely open kitchen. The seabass was so good.
  5. I actually asked to go bowl a few games for practice.  I’ve changed my grip and increased my average in three games so here’s hoping for the next league night.
  6. Prince got me a great card, which frankly made my day.
  7. A girlfriend of mine bought me cookies to my SockAnon meeting.
  8. Duke is learning his celebrities. Now while you might expect him to ID Elmo at 50 paces. However, in the last two days, my son has declared “I’m watching Brian Williams.” and “I like Carl Kasell.” Who knew my kid would prefer the nightly news and NPR’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me…; and Dirty Jobs to anything from Disney or Elmo.
  9. The Queen Mum is completely making me laugh — she tried to send me 33 e-cards for my 33rd birthday. Guess what? She got bored or couldn’t find enough — so she sent 16 of them and told me to count them each double. How cute is that? After 15 wishes, I completely understand.

So, yes, despite the emotional rollercoaster from Thursday to Friday, I’ve had a good birthday. I’m glad to be 3 again. Thank you all for helping me have a special day.

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  2. I really tried to come up with 33 e-cards, but it wasn’t that I was bored, or tired…. I lost track of what I had sent and figured I was in danger of sending the same card twice (or more). And since that would look a bit senile, opted for some creative math. 16 birthday cards, each conting double equals 32 plus the one “This is it” card equals 33. Anyway, I’m glad your birthday turned out good for you. Now, maybe your string of no so hot birthdays is over. I hope so. Anyway, I love you and am grateful that God created you to be my daughter 33+ years ago.
