I’m an Addict.
September 27th, 2006I know this will come as no shock to those closest to me, but I think it is time I publically admit my addiction. Come to find out honesty is an important to addicts and thus I’m going to put this out there as just how serious my addiction has become. (Not that I’m looking for a cure, mind you, just to admit how seriously little life I have.)
Hello, I’m the Queen of Snarkville, and I’m addicted to my TV. There, I’ve said it. No, I don’t feel better.
Recently, there was a “dare” running through the blogs to take a photo of your TIVO recorded list. Well, I WOULD, but my list runs into the pages and would thus have to be made into a Flickr set, so I’ve opted instead to list all the shows I have a season pass to. For those of you Non-TIVO people (and frankly, how do you do it?) a Season Pass is the TIVO equal to setting your VCR to record something over and over again. Here goes nothing:
- The Amazing Race 10: Last few seasons we’ve been less than impressed with; but there’s always hope. This is also the one reality show Prince and I dream of being on. We’d kick butt, fight horribly, and be on Dr. Phil afterwards trying to explain that we “really do love each other.” But it would be awesome TV.
- Surivior: Cook Islands: I can’t look away. We’ve been fans from the beginning, and have only missed one or two seasons along the way.
- My Name is Earl: Gotta say I love this show. It is funny, has a point, and is just fairly decent programing.
- The Office: A train wreck I can’t look away from. It is cringe worthy and both Prince and I are known to squirm in our seats while watching.
- Lost: Oh, my. Totally late to the game here (since I’ve been catching up on TWO seasons to prep for the 3rd) — but this show sucked us in from the beginning and hasn’t let go.
- Law & Order: Now this is going to begin my sub-addiction — crime shows.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent
- Law & Order: SVU
- Mythbusters: All three of us love this show. As one of the hosts says: “It’s 10 minutes of science and the rest of me hurting myself.”
- Dirty Jobs: On the surface this is for Duke, but we really love this show. We try to avoid watching while eating anything.
- MI-5: An amazingly good British show about the British secret service. There is no other show that has mastered the cliffhanger like this one. In fact, it is a rather complex show — to the point I can not knit and watch.
- Crossing Jordan: Still in TIVO under hopes she comes back.
- CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Yup, more crime — love it!!
- CSI: NY: Um, again.
- American Chopper: Duke likes the bikes; we enjoy the family “drama”
- Battlerstar Galactica: This is ALL Prince. I can’t follow the story line, I don’t get it, and I seriously dislike their made-up curse word “Frackin’” It makes my skin crawl.
- Thomas & Friends: This is all Duke.
- Sesame Street: All Duke — but let me just say, this show is NOT nearly as good as when *I* was a kid.
- King of the Hill: Since this was canceled this year, this may be wishful thinking again.
- The Wiggles: Just for Duke.
- Family Guy: For Prince mostly.
- Jericho: Test driving a new show to see if it makes the cut. One show in and we are willing to give it a few more.
- Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: Two shows in and I’m hooked. Sorkin has done a great job thus far — let’s hope it continues.
- Shark: Crime, courtroom, and snark — how can it miss. While it was fast paced and enjoyable, we are unsure if they can keep up the pace and the “fish out of water” deal can only last so long.
- Heroes: Saw the first episode last night. Prince thinks it is too slow. I think it has tons of potential and it is SO different than other things NBC is doing right now — I’m hopeful.
- Battlestar Galactica: Yes, it is in TIVO twice. Prince? WHY?
- Stanley: Duke calls this show “Dennis” because that’s the name of the goldfish. He loves it and WE LOVE how much he is learning about animals.
So, now that’s my list. This doesn’t include the random OTHER shows we watch on occasions — but seriously, I know I have a problem. But I’m open to more. What glaring hole in my list do you see? Share? Increase my TIVO list.

One word: HDTV. Universal HD had been advertising that they were starting the new season in HD on 9-22. SciFi wasn’t supposed to start until next month. However, the new episodes are not showing up in the TiVo guide. So as insurance I added one pass and left the other…
Side note-Are you a Cox Communications cable subscriber? If so, get one of their DVR’s. If they haven’t already, Cox is putting TiVo on ALL their DVRs. They’re even going to push an update to the Cox DVRs people already have to MAKE them into TiVos!

What? No Grey’s Anatomy?
I watched Heroes last night - it was tres different but interesting. No Tivo here, but we are Cox communications subscribers, so I may look into it.
I need to call you - twice this week I’ve seen something that made me, for whatever reason, think of you.

I second that call for Grey’s Anatomy! Also recommend Two and a Half Men. Angus T. Jones, who plays the Half, is almost more fabulous than Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen.

HOLY CRAP!
At what point during your day do you get any work done? I don’t listen to that many podcasts or read that many blogs even I combine the number!
And quit tryin’ to fool people. We all know the prince watches the wiggles. At least you don’t have CSI: Miami on the list. That show is horrible.
