Vacation Time, what’s that again?
Yesterday, I was NOT in Snarkville all day. Prince, Duke and I woke at the crack of dawn and ALL of us got dressed and ready to walk out the door shortly after the crack of dawn. I should note that this is a feat unto itself, three humans in MY house getting dressed at roughly the same time is amazing.
Duke was handed his morning banana (side note: he has totally started a trend at school. About three weeks ago, he decided he wanted a banana in the morning. Since we don’t do breakfast here, I mentioned he could take his banana to school with him and have it with their breakfast. He loved this idea. Day One, every kid in this class was all excited because “Duke has a banana.” Now we are noticing more and more kids coming to school with bananas. A trendsetter, my boy is.) and out the door we all went.
We dropped Duke off at his school and Prince and I headed into the big city. You see the Dawn Princess was in port and we had a meeting on board. Oh, boy did I feel special — until I saw the CROWD of 100+ other “special” people. Ok, no problem, we hung out on board yesterday, listened to the world’s most boring lecture, and ate decent food. (However, it should be noted that they served chocolate souffle for dessert and Prince and I both agree that *MINE* is better.) We even ran around and took photos.
However, during the boring lecture, there was a review of a bunch of ships and what cruises they will be doing. I left literally with 4 that are new to my MUST cruise list. Ok, that’s nice, right? Only problem is not one of them is less than 24 days. TWENTY -FOUR days. Yes, most of a month. I’m too young, I’m thinking to be on a ship for 24 days. There are FOUR formal nights on a cruise that long. I only have three dresses. Oh, but the good news about this — I don’t have to fill out a single time sheet. I don’t have to ask anyone if I can take the month of December off. I just can, if the budget and Prince will allow me to go. Do you think he’d be ok if I took Duke and we just went?
So, when we were done we headed back to school to retrieve Duke. Here’s what we learned about Duke’s day yesterday — while I was ‘working’ on the ship.
- He shook leaves out of a tree. Not only with the teacher’s permission, with her encouragement.
- He finally learned to climb up a certain ladder on the play structure, it still only gives me a little heart failure to see him do it.
- He will eat just about anything in muffin form at school — however, one of his new favorites is fried orka — now if I could just FIND orka in the stores — he and I could share our love for it. Prince thinks we are nuts — he’s wrong.
- He has declared that he wants to go on a “big boat” next week — when we head off for vacation. However, he has no desire to sleep on the boat, even if Mommy and Daddy are there. He does however have great interest in this whole pool idea.
Today is my last day fully in the office until we go on vacation. I’m taking a little time to prepare and get some stuff for me done before we run away. And I have to say, I’m looking forward to it.

But would you be willing to spend 24 days at an “all-inclusive” resort?
