Home again, Home Again…

I know I owe you details on Halloween and it will come, once I get a certain much needed photo. In a nutshell, for the fourth Halloween in a row, my son (the one who is capable of running in 5 directions at once when excited) slept through Halloween!  He has never, no not once, had a piece of Halloween candy — why?  Because within seconds of the costume going on, he goes right to sleep.
Anyway, after repelling and the “excitement” of Halloween, blogging onboard the ship was greatly reduced.  Thus I must bring you back into real time and do a lovely list of bullet points to cover the first few days of November.Post Halloween Fun:

  • In Mexico, November 1st & 2nd is called Day of the Dead.  I was looking rather forward to seeing parades, decorations, and getting myself a sugar skull.  Oh, no — it seems that Day of the Dead is not as tourist friendly as say, endless jewelry stores with bars in them.  Thus I saw exactly two decorations for it — one was in the cruise terminal.
  • Does anyone remember the costume party from May’s convention?  Remember how Prince and I won a portable DVD player?  Can I just say that thing is worth its weight in GOLD?  We were able to hook it up to the TV in our stateroom and offset the rather limited kids programing with a daily fix of Duke’s current favorite: Dory (I mean Finding Nemo).  Royal Caribbean has a partnership with Fisher-Price and thus they run videos of “Little People” on one of the channels.  Duke was not as into that — though there is this song that is totally STUCK.IN.MY.HEAD.  URGH.
  • There were two formal nights on the ship.  The second of these, we all got dressed up and headed off to dinner.  We sat down to dinner and the plates started to come out.  Duke picked at his food and was getting tired.  Just about that time the photographer came over to take photos.  Duke climbs up into my lap, Prince stands behind me.  The second the flash went off, Duke opens his mouth and throws up all over the table, me, him, and the floor.  Everyone was fine, though rushing through the ship to get back the cabin was an adventure is ick.  However, search as I might — I was not able to find that photo in the photo gallery.  I thought that was completely unfair — after all, who wouldn’t want a good puke shot in the photo album?
  • What I learned on board?  Towel animal folding.  Yup, I can do a few basic animals in towels.  I’m ready for my next career in life.  Is there any money in folding towel animals?
  • Highlight onboard the ship for Duke?  The nightly shows.  He loved the clapping part best.  Nothing was more fun than watching him watch the shows — even if he tended to fall asleep before they were over.  He also was thrilled with the swimming pools onboard.  As well as the bran muffins that were served in breakfast.
  • The drive home was um, exactly like the drive to LA.  Full of all the talking.  7 straight hours of pointing out all the sites in reverse order of them being pointed out on the way down.  My son the detailed tour guide in charge of all things, uphill/downhill/windmill/moon/dark/boat….it goes on and on and on.
  • We were greeted at home by three ticked we left cats and shockingly no cat puke.  Now for a cat not to puke in my house for a week in noteworthy.  So, imagine my shock that Monday morning, when I woke up and wandered to the bathroom (yes, in the dark) and stepped in cat puke (AGAIN) that I’m thinking that they puke just for me.  I do not wish to be this kind of special any longer.  How is it possible that they don’t puke for 7 straight days and yet the first morning *I’m* home they puke in the one spot they know my foot will fall.  This is NOT love, people — this is seriously sick in the head.  I now declare that I have a psycho-puking cat.  URGH.

Now back to my real life, real world thing again….fun, huh?

I love that the cats only puke either in your bed or in a place you will step. Not in a corner, not under the bed, not even near a wall, but only in the path you travel. Perhaps you leave a scent on the floor that they translate as “puke here if you must”. Is it still the same puker, or are all 3 doing it these days?

I have fond memories of the towel bunny with sunglasses on our cruise, but we only got one on a 5 day cruise – I think we were shortchanged.

And you’ve GOT to love Duke’s timing!
