Ramblings for a Monday
December 4th, 2006I have NO topic today. Some may argue that posting is pointless as I truly have nothing to say. Oh, sure I could entertain you with a cute Duke story or better a “How the Queen is incompentant” story, but alas I’m fresh out of any real points today.
However, I’m sitting in my quiet house, so quiet after a weekend of the boys running around and all.the.screaming/talking/giggling. So quiet. I don’t even want to type on my laptop too loudly lest I disturb the quiet.
Anyway, I have some things I actually need help on.
First, remember my new phone? It can play MP3 ringtones and I’m toying with being all teenager and having ringtones for certain people in my life. So, I’m throwing it out to you; here are the the people I’m thinking of having a special ring for — you pick the songs.
1. Prince. You know him. What do you think his theme song should be? And on this one, I’m uniquely stumped. Should I go with ‘our song’ or should I go with ‘his theme song’ or something that will make me laugh or him roll his eyes to know?
2. The Queen Mum. I’ve thought of “God Save the Queen” but I’m a wee bit concerned over the looks I might get.
3. Niki. If you don’t know her from here, you need to read her at the KnitNik.
4. A general ring for everyone else. Yes, pretty much three people call me with any regularity and frankly, I don’t have enough brain cells to remember that Carrot Juice is Murder is for my butcher. Frankly, I don’t even HAVE the phone number to my butcher, but perhaps I should?
Next, (and yes, I’m a little obsessed with my new phone) there are no BlackJack cases out there that aren’t just universal cases — unless you help me find something???— do I knit myself a little case until something in leather comes out? Yet another fun side effect of being on the cutting edge.

1. I have a theme song? Is it The Last Saskatchwan Pirate? The theme from Hawai’i Five O? Rock The Casbah (’cause I truely ROCK! I mean I was the one who configured your e-mail)?
2. The trouble with God Save the Queen is that most people will thing it’s My Country Tis of Thee…
3. No idea…
4. Let’s see, don’t forget Car Full of Pain for the car dealership, Conjunction Junction for Duke’s school, Tyrannosaurus Debt for Home Office, Shot Heard Round the World for my office, and The Body Machine for the doctor’s office!

1. Not sure - I’m sure I could come up with one, but Prince will have a better one, I’m sure.
2. Prince is right about God Save the Queen - unfortunately most Americans have no clue that there are different words to My Country ‘Tis of Thee! Though I hate this song, “You Raise Me Up” would be a good one for your mom.
3. I’m torn here - my 2 favorites are Mister Mister’s “Kyrie” and Marillion’s “Lavender” if that helps. I’m a child of the 80’s, right? But if you really want my theme song, check out the lyrics to Stephen Curtis Chapman’s “King of the Jungle” - you’ll really relate. I’m also somewhat partial to “Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla” and the Veggie Tales “Everybody’s Got a Baby Kangaroo”.

For prince, I vote Eye of the Tiger by survivor. Nothing like a rocky theme song! For the main ringer? Why not Drop it like it’s hot? That would be teh awesome!
