Snipets

The Ebola/plague/bird flu seems to abating. I say this after having my first night of non-drug induced sleep in a week and the fact that my coffee in fact tastes like coffee again. Thus, I am declaring myself on the mend. Which is a good thing, since after all the sitting I’ve been doing lately, I’m rather looking forward to doing something else, like standing.

So since I’ve been living the tough life of attempting to get better, I sat down with nothing more than little snipets for you, my pretty internets today.

Snipet, the first:

Bowling this week was GREAT. In a move that I’ve never accomplished before, I became a stronger bowler as the night went on. It was like I found my groove or something. (If only bowling night was 9 games long, I might have had a perfect game, right?) Alas, by the end of the third game I put in my league night high game of 150. Given that I began the league this year with an average of 101, I’m actually improving. Now, I still hold on to the bottom of our team — remember my team has the guy with the lowest handicap in our league (a lovely 7) and me who’s average is at least 100 pins below his. We have a wide span. However, the coolest thing is that that people seem to be noticing that I am improving. Prince told me of comments from even the ‘really OLD guys’ that I’m bowling better now. I have to say that’s been improving my bowling night experience greatly. Mostly, I’m thrilled to see progress (the scores not getting any better for so long was killing me); but heck, I’m actually doing good things for my team these days. I should note that the past two weeks, we’ve been on fire with the points. Last week we pushed into second place by a half a point, but this took us winning most of our points and the second place team loosing most of theirs. This week, we played the (now) third place team. Our goal was to just win more points than they did to keep our second place spot. We walked away with almost ALL the points for the night. Now, we are a little far from the folks in first, so I don’t think we will see first this year, but boy, second doesn’t feel too bad.

Snipet, the second:

Since it has been Chez Plague here in Snarkville, I wanted to share an amazing find I had while clearing the shelves in the Cold Care Aisle of my drugstore. SudaCare Shower Soothers are awesome. Yes, I thought this was a little weird when I picked them up, but I thought hey, I know a steamy shower will help break up the concrete in my head, so maybe this will help too. You put this flat disk, looks like an over sized Alka-Seltzer, on the floor of your shower and then you just shower. What a concept. They seem to work best when they are in the direct stream of water and you are facing them, but I have a small bathroom and I closed the door and the whole room was a nice steam bath. I did get the Vanilla Mint version, which has this odd vanilla odor, but still I left the shower feeling much less like I had a head full of concrete. However, I do warn, do NOT touch the disk, once it has gotten all foamy, with your big toe in order to move it to a better spot — it burns a little, ok, a lot.

Snipet, the third:

I had a snipet the third, surely, I did. But for the life of me I can not think. Note to self: WRITE STUFF DOWN, already. You are not capable of remembering everything in your brain at the same time. Stuff leaks out. Admit your short coming and WRITE IT DOWN.

Oh, oh, wait. Nope. Lost it again. URGH. Don’t you hate that?
