Return to Normal?
I so want to declare that I’ve returned to normal. However, I fear in the world of Snarkville, normal is truly a relative term.
You see, I was officially gone for two weeks. Two long weeks. Two weeks full of rest and mental breaks that I really needed. Two horrible weeks lacking the hugs, kisses and giggles I have come to require as part of my daily life. And two weeks lacking the normal (yes, I see the irony in this) amount of TV that makes the residents of Snarkville feel connected to the outside world.
So, here’s to the state of Snarkville:
- I returned home to an empty sink and an empty dishwasher. Either the boys in this house ate out for two straight weeks or one of them tired of washing a dish prior to using it.
- I returned home to a made bed — did company come over while I was gone?
- I returned home to an office that is SO full of boxes that it appears I am either moving in or out — and frankly I have no good plan as to how to handle said boxes right now.
- I returned home to ONE coffee filter left in the whole house, EMERGENCY.
- On the first night I got back from my trip, after 2 FULL weeks off, I bowled the best game of my life (a 173), I won all three of my points for the night, AND I kicked Prince’s butt in two of three games.
- Oh, and in addition to the above, I also qualified for both a patch (a 160+ game) AND a pin (400 series). Oh, yeah, I rocked the bowling alley!!
- There is only 6% of free space on my Not-TIVO. This means I must watch a few hours of TV in an attempt to prevent it from deleting all the stuff I’m trying so hard to watch quickly. If I could only watch AND do other things at the same time.
- I returned home to a Wii. Prince got a Wii while I was gone. This thing is HIGHLY fun. First, the *ONLY* reason he was allowed to get it was because it gets you off the couch to play most games and that part is rather cool. Secondly, it comes with BOWLING! Seriously, how am I expected to resist a video game with BOWLING? So, yesterday, was my first day with it. Want to know my favorite games? Tennis and Boxing. To be honest, I’ve not played the actual boxing game, but I did one of the trainings and it was really fun. Tennis however, is awesome. I’m getting better at it.
- More on the Wii. When you start playing, you create a Mii (pronounced “me”) and it is a computer generated figure of yourself. Mine is really cute, for what it is worth. Anyway, everyday (and only once per day) you can take a fitness test to “age” your Mii. In one way these tests give you some practice in sports games; in the other way, it a challenge to see how young your Mii can be. Yesterday, my Mii was 72 years old! Yup, not pretty. Today however, she is a mere lass of 27.
- My Mii needs a name. Wanna help?
- And finally. I returned home a blonde.
Normal is truly overrated.

Wow, sounds like you should leave the house more often. Clearly things are in far better shape when you return home.
