When last we spoke…

June 21st, 2007

I’ve spent two days trying to come up with a suitable intro after being gone for a week.  Wow, has it really been that long?

To sum up my week, I’ve flown nearly 7,000 miles; eaten thousands of calories of really good food; laughed and cried with my family — sometimes at the same time; and attempted to survive on as little sleep as possible in order to not miss a second of it.  Yes, the trip was completely unexpected (at one point, I had a one way ticket with no idea when I would return home), but no, I’ve got no intentions of going into details.

I promise to tell you all about our visit here though.  But first, I give you total randomness:

  1. JetBlue is not on my favorite airline list anymore, they introduced Duke to Dora, URGH.
  2. My son eats TOMATOES!!  Seriously this is weird news for me, since neither Prince nor I can stand the things.  Yes, I’m kinda wondering how come, but he seems to love them. Double URGH.
  3. It seems I travel to my parents house to buy shoes.  As a family we came home with FOUR pairs of shoes we didn’t travel out with.
  4. Airports are great places to mingle with humanity, I’m partial to these snipets:
    1. While waiting for my bags the woman next to me (whose group had all of their bags) asked if we’d gotten ours yet.  I say, “not a one of them” Her response: “Oh, good.”  Gee thanks.
    2. When waiting to get on the plane, we waited to be called for pre-boarding (which occurs AFTER the first class people walk a special blue carpet).  Duke did NOT want to wait.  I get up to the front of the line and the agent looks at me and says, “Why didn’t you let the royal child walk the blue carpet?”  I thought, “Oh, you read my blog.”  I said, “I know he’s royal, I didn’t want to embarrass you in case you missed it.”
    3. Perhaps it is NOT a good idea to waive the “no cell phones on after the doors are closed” policy, when the ground hold is less than 10 minutes.  It seems to cause the flight attendant to get snippy and say on the loud speaker, “Perhaps you didn’t hear the announcement, the engines have started up and that means each and EVERY one of you MUST turn off the phones. NOW.”
