Ode to Firefox, how I miss you
The laundry list of new things in my life is getting longer by the hour. Shall we sum up:
- Yesterday the FedEx man (who is alot afraid of me), brought me the NEW McBook Pro. Oh how I LOVE my shiny new computer.*
- Yesterday I also got my invite to Ravelry.com**. This is also one of my new loves in life, but it will be months before I get all my stuff up there — months I tell you.
- New bowling bags arrived yesterday. I have needed for some time a 2 ball bowling bag, but kept putting it off. I have one now. Anyone want to guess how many pairs of socks I found in my OLD two bags?
- Since nothing else was going on, I decided to change out the theme of the blog. Yes, it is like changing shoes to me, I like to change the theme so much. Anyway, I’m still working on the normal “clean-up”, but take a look and let me know your thoughts.
* Well, I’d be MORE in love with my new laptop if it hadn’t experienced the EXACT same kernal panics as the last one. Under the firm belief that this can not happen twice to the same person, I did a little digging. I have done all of this without the benefit of tech support since they close at 6pm (it began at 7pm); they were so helpful before that I thought a little heading banging of my own would be mre fun; and well, dangit, it can’t happen TWICE.
- First, I had to question why did this shut down thing happen all of sudden. I rocked on setting everything up for HOURS before the first inkling of it. Curious.
- Next, I began to wonder if it was connected to anything I had added to the computer. Well, the only thing I’ve added was my iTunes library and Firefox.
- Hold the phone. Let’s uninstall Firefox and see what happens.
- Nothing. There are NO kernal panics, no hanging wireless connections, nothing wrong again. FOR HOURS.
- Houston, we have the problem. But my other Mac isn’t having a problem. So I feel the need to consult with my buddy.
- “Dude, do you think it could be Firefox?”
- “Here try this version or this version.”
- Tried and guess what? Within minutes of installing and launching ‘new’ Firefox, I got the same problems. URGH.
- So, at 1am last night, I restored the factory settings on the MacBook Pro, in order to complete my test.
- I’ve been online for many hours without a problem – so thus far, I’m concluding that it is Firefox.
- But, I miss some of the features of Firefox — but right now it is dead to me.
**For those not in the know, Ravelry is this highly addictive site for knitting lovers, that fosters the online knitting community. To say it is well done is an understatement. To say that it may be as addictive as knitting is true. But sadly it is in beta and by invite only right now — there were only 11K people behind me yesterday when I got my invite.

Have you tried Safari or Camino? The one thing I truly miss from Firefox that I don’t have with the others is invisible browsing.

YIKES — I am looking into a new MacBook Pro – but I love my Firefox — are you going to contact them to see what they say??
hope my name and mail show up for you — since for some strange reason they aren’t showing up when I type them in. . .
