Roller Coasters are fun, until that woozy feeling at the end

What a week. Seriously this week couldn’t be more of a roller coaster over the least important things possible. Here’s the brief run down before getting to the important stuff:

  • The McBook Pro:
    • Good: It arrived two WHOLE days earlier than expected by even the FedEx tracking site!
    • Bad: This new McBook has the same problems as the first one! One call to tech support leads me to the point that this is problem with no solution — well, none that don’t cost me money (and perhaps tears).
    • Good: After a short chat, Apple agreed to send me a new Airport Basestation — hopefully arriving SOON.
    • Weird: All day yesterday, I was able to use the wireless connection without a problem. Yep, you heard me right, not a single shutdown.
  • The Kitten:
    • Good: The kitten seems to settling into our life. He isn’t concerned over the dog and the dog seems nonplussed by the kitten.
    • Bad: He went to the vet and we found out that he has an upper respiratory bug which means he must be kept out of the general population for 2 to 4 weeks.
    • Good: The kitten seems to like his new people. He purrs like a madman.
    • Bad: He needs to have meds 2 times a day, which since Prince is too skidish to hold the cat and ram the meds down his throat, I must do. This has the side benefit of him not really LOVING me as much anymore.
    • Good: We have a name. I gave in and we have decided to name him Healy. So far it works, but he’s not coming when called yet.
    • Bad: Healy could not spend 2 to 4 weeks in our bathroom.
    • Good: I got the joy of cleaning and converting the laundry room/bedroom into a full time kitten home.
    • Bad: Yet ANOTHER box to clean.

Now for the important thing —I’m a travel agent right? I spend my days searching out deals, cruises, flights, and vacation options for people all day. I’m pretty good at it, if I say so myself. I rope Prince into helping me whenever possible — so he’s not without resources of his very own.

I tried all day yesterday to buy tickets on the new Virgin America airline. (They were attacked by hackers and thus the site was down for most of the day.) These tickets were for us, for a trip we will be taking. I spent the entire day off and on trying to get the tickets taken care of. By 5pm, I had failed.

So, on my way out the door at knit night, I asked Prince if he’d try for me. He said he’d try. Yippie!

I got home late, thanks much to my new friend who lives in Germany and came to her last knit night yesterday until next year (boohoo) — but somewhere in this, I invited her to Paris with us AND to another trip we will be making across the pond. Yes, this is a testament to my new love for her — that and she wasn’t in the least scared by the fact I threatened to steal her tickets to prevent her from going home AND I declared I wanted to put her in my pocket and keep her. I do however think that her kids might object.

Anyway, I came home and found Prince curled up reading a book with Healy in his lap. It was cute and reminded me that until Healy is all better, I will not be his favorite. I ask, “So, did you succeed in getting tickets.”

Him: “Yep, I ran into one problem, but I took your frequent flyer number off the reservation and it worked. You should have a copy sent to you in e-mail.”

Me: “Did you get row 9 on one flight and 10 on the other?”

Him: “No, I got row 9 on both flights, but I had to change side of the plane. Nice thing is that the flights are wide open.”

Me: “Cool. I want to check something before I go to bed.” I check my e-mail. I see the reservation and I looked at the times of the flight out…

Me: “um, dude, you picked the WRONG time of the flight.” I look closer. “DUDE, you booked the WRONG date!!! No, by MONTHS, the wrong date.”

Him: “Utoh. I was thinking about something else — guess I didn’t check. But just cancel them and it will be ok.”

Me: “Ok, but this just made my heart fall through my toes. Didn’t you notice the price was different?”

Him: “No”

Yes, I canceled the flight (no penalties) and booked us the RIGHT flight, with the rows I expected — since I’d seen the map MANY, MANY times. And yes, this is yet another roller coaster in my life this week.

    Way to go, Prince!

And good choice on the name, I like it! Where will the other kitties go potty now that you’re taking the laundry room away from them?

Does anyone else think it’s ironic that you spend so much time trying to stop the other kitties from throwing up while you cram stuff down Healy’s throat?

The upstairs box was moved into Duke’s bathroom for now.

And yes, it is ironic — not fun, but a little ironic.

He’ll forgive you the meds. I was at Jasmin’s yesterday, and she has a rescue dog that had once been abused, that very much did not like my cane–even growled at it. Later, though, he curled right up around me on the floor and had me petting him, totally blissed out.
