My Table is NOT a File Cabinet

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Before I explain the title, a couple of random thoughts…

  1. Who, other than me, instantly thought of Thelma and Louise when they read Alison’s comment about being hide in the Prius so I can fit in?  And for the record, there are few women in this world I’d drive off a cliff with, of which Alison (who is too amazing to ever commit armed robbery or drive off a cliff) is on my list.
  2. Barb, yes — I shall bring you next time — it was truly awesome — though next time I’m bringing my PJs, I’m drinking with the girls, and I may be forced to steal more yarn — because apparently that’s what I do when I’m invited to other people’s houses.

Ok…so back to my story for the evening (which, seriously how exciting is my life that you get two posts today?).. (more…)

I’m Dye-ing to Tell You

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

(Warning: knitting and yarn content to follow. I know a few of you, (db, I’m looking at you) dislike this, so you may skip this entry. Otherwise, knitters and dyers enjoy.)

Yesterday, I spent the day with the Minons of the Pointy Sticks (I think there is a blog — but I need someone to send me a linky) in a dye-ing frenzy. Oh my word. There are a few things you need to know about this group:

  • You can not be shy. Sorry, shyness is not allowed. If you want something to drink, you get it. If you think of something witty to say, interrupt someone and say it. If you like a skein of yarn, ASK for it, nay, demand it. (Perhaps threatening to steal or move the owner’s cabin to the engine room helps.)
  • These ladies know their toys. There were squeals of glee over new wheels — which I freely admit that I’m not worthy because I don’t spin (yet).
  • A few of this pack are going on Sea Socks ‘08. I have a feeling that I need to warn Celebrity — there is going to be a bar that will never be the same again. (more…)

Out of Gas

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Literally.

I had a very wise grandfather who, as the Queen Mum would say, “called ‘em like he saw ‘em.” When I was 16 and getting my driver’s license, he made a comment, “Any idiot can read a gas gauge.  There is NO reason to run out of gas.”  And to this day, I’ve never been stuck on the side of the road out of gas.  (I’ve been on serious fumes coming into the station, but never out of gas.) Random for Random Sake

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Life in Snarkville is very, very close to insanity.  In fact, we are three white coats and a short bus from declaring Frankenhouse an asylum and beginning to make moccasins.  So, there is no coherent story with a point, a tear, or anything worthwhile today — today you get bullet points of the randomness in my life. He Thinks his Mother Shoplifts…

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

I’m slowly coming out of my iPhone induced stupor.  Um, folks, the iPhone is pretty awesome — not the least of which is that I feel rather cool that I have one.  I’m texting like a 15 year old girl (IDK, my BBF…. — oh, how I hate that commerical) and I may stroke it on occasions, just cause.

Anyway, back to the stories of my life — because you (and I’m totally looking at you Alison) might think I’m interesting.  And what would you know, I DO have a story… (more…)

It Lives

Monday, September 17th, 2007

I can’t type or talk or whatever…my iPhone LIVES.

At somepoint the iPhone has been turned on and made to live and it works.  I have 1000 questions to figure out how to make this custom to me and fit my life — but I’m going to get there — until then, I have nothing of any use to share.

If you need me– I’m the one looking really cool with the new iPhone.

Today, today…

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

today, on this very same day of the week, I was born.  Anyone over the age of 34 probably remembers that day as the day that the heavens opened up and angels sang and there was sun shining where once there was only rain…. (more…)

Why Life’s not Fair — Part 426

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

In yet another installment of why life just isn’t fair, my body has turned against me and made me sick.  I am not sure what has ticked off my body (mostly it seems my nose is the sore point — I crack me up), I’ve fed it, I’ve given it the right amounts of coffee and sugar, I’m allowed it to rest, I’ve not overly taxed it by taking it on long walks or anything.  I just asked that my body STOP producing so much snot.  Was that too much to ask… (more…)

I hope you’ve enjoyed the time off…
