Best and Worst…

March 19th, 2008

This began as a random post, but a pattern appeared from nowhere (see also, I’m not a great (or even good) writer, thus planning ahead for these things would be wrong).  So, I give you the Best and Worst on this ‘Waffle Wednesday’…

Things my parents taught Duke that was awesome:

Buckling his own seatbelt.

A game of throwing a pillow back and forth.  Duke loves it.

Things my parents taught him that I wish I could go back and tell them “Please Don’t”

That windows roll down in a car.*

Most awesome thing about the new car:

Getting the phone call from a friend asking me “How did you FIND an Escape Hybrid?  I went to the Ford dealership to test drive one and they laughed at me.”  (In case you want to own your own Escape Hybrid, I strongly suggest California as a place to find them.  I found about 10 in the dealers around me — mind you there are only 3 that were acceptable to me options/colors — but perhaps you go for a dinner mint color or white?)

Most annoying thing about the new car:

We only have ONE key.  We have a lovely “We Owe” note for the other key, but we only have ONE right now.  It annoys me to my toes that we only have one.  This is third business day of owning the car — I’ve hit the end of my rope.  I shall not sleep tonight without the second key.

Best thing about having my family visit for a long weekend:

Getting to spend time laughing and enjoying the weekend with them.  (Also, going to eat at lots of fun places.)

Watching the Queen Mum slide down the large inflatable slide.  (And knowing there is photographic evidence for the Christmas cards too.)

Worst thing about having my family visit for a long weekend:

Absolutely NO laundry has been done in my house.  Nope, none.  I need to get that moving before we are forced to smell our clothes to see what might be acceptable first.

Oh and also the additional 5 (or 10) pounds I gained.  (See above regarding good food.)

Best thing to happen to the TV since the writer’s strike:

I’m finally getting my money’s worth from NetFlix!!!

Worst thing to happen to TV since the writer’s strike:

Apparently I don’t have great taste in movies — so I’ve sent a few back half watched.  Also, now that TV is finally coming back in April, I’m not sure what I’m going to do.  (Though, the Queen Mum told us about suspending your NetFlix account for a period of time — which we may try as we watch more TV for a bit.)

And finally, the worst thing about the this week thus far:

Prince and I don’t get to have dinner together (or be home in daylight hours) until Friday.  Seriously, it is one of those weeks where we say goodbye in the morning and one or the other of us won’t be home until late.  I hate weeks like this — mostly because of the laundry of course.

*Know that when you are in the back seat of a two door car and request the window to be opened, there is NO amount of explaining that *YOUR* window doesn’t open and you’ll have to settle for the passenger side front window to be opened.  And no, that makes no sense to a 4 year at all.

  1. Think of one key as providence that you don’t have to share the car until there is a second key. Just be sure you, not prince has possesion, and also that you watch messages to prolong the arrival of the second key.
