Yes, I’m a Little Lady — move on…

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

(Before I begin, all Knitters can stand down.  The pattern from the magazine has been located and aquired.  For any copyright police out there, we are FOLLOWING the law to the letter and yet, I still will be able to finish my scarf.  For those of you who won’t sleep until I tell you, it was Holiday IK 2007 and just typing that makes me throw up a little in my mouth.)

This morning I’m taking the car to get brakes.  Well, actually, the car needs the brakes fixed, and it is long overdue, but alas, it sounds so much more fun the thought that I’m going to just drive to the brake place and hope the building stops me, right?  Ok, maybe not.  Anyway, I fully expect to be called “Little Lady” before 8am — and since that makes me happier than you can possibly imagine, you know I shall report back here.  (Is anyone wondering why I’ve been putting off the brakes?)

So, since I can’t wait to get called “Little Lady” I must leave you with a few random thoughts. (more…)

Out of Gas

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Literally.

I had a very wise grandfather who, as the Queen Mum would say, “called ‘em like he saw ‘em.” When I was 16 and getting my driver’s license, he made a comment, “Any idiot can read a gas gauge.  There is NO reason to run out of gas.”  And to this day, I’ve never been stuck on the side of the road out of gas.  (I’ve been on serious fumes coming into the station, but never out of gas.) Random for Random Sake

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Life in Snarkville is very, very close to insanity.  In fact, we are three white coats and a short bus from declaring Frankenhouse an asylum and beginning to make moccasins.  So, there is no coherent story with a point, a tear, or anything worthwhile today — today you get bullet points of the randomness in my life. Roller Coasters are fun, until that woozy feeling at the end

Friday, July 20th, 2007

What a week. Seriously this week couldn’t be more of a roller coaster over the least important things possible. Here’s the brief run down before getting to the important stuff:

  • The McBook Pro:
    • Good: It arrived two WHOLE days earlier than expected by even the FedEx tracking site!
    • Bad: This new McBook has the same problems as the first one! One call to tech support leads me to the point that this is problem with no solution — well, none that don’t cost me money (and perhaps tears).
    • Good: After a short chat, Apple agreed to send me a new Airport Basestation — hopefully arriving SOON.
    • Weird: All day yesterday, I was able to use the wireless connection without a problem. Yep, you heard me right, not a single shutdown.
  • The Kitten:
    • Good: The kitten seems to settling into our life. He isn’t concerned over the dog and the dog seems nonplussed by the kitten.
    • Bad: He went to the vet and we found out that he has an upper respiratory bug which means he must be kept out of the general population for 2 to 4 weeks.
    • Good: The kitten seems to like his new people. He purrs like a madman.
    • Bad: He needs to have meds 2 times a day, which since Prince is too skidish to hold the cat and ram the meds down his throat, I must do. This has the side benefit of him not really LOVING me as much anymore.
    • Good: We have a name. I gave in and we have decided to name him Healy. So far it works, but he’s not coming when called yet.
    • Bad: Healy could not spend 2 to 4 weeks in our bathroom.
    • Good: I got the joy of cleaning and converting the laundry room/bedroom into a full time kitten home.
    • Bad: Yet ANOTHER box to clean.

Now for the important thing — (more…)

In the “About Time” Category

Ok, to put everyone’s mind at ease, the MacBook Pro DOES NOT have a problem with Firefox (I don’t believe it fully, but Apple tells me that is in fact NOT my issue). My issue seems to be a problem (limited to the MacBook Pros) that the Airport card in my laptop and my router don’t like each other. This is now a “known” Apple issue with developers working on the solution (which for those keeping score at home, means I didn’t REALLY need to send back MacBook #1). However, today (before the developers can get around to FIXING this issue) I was given three little choices: (more…)

To Tell the Truth

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Yesterday, I got a call from a friend checking in on me and she said, “wow, your posts have been more snarky than usual.” Um, I hadn’t thought so. Ranting, yes; but was there true snark there? Possibly. I mean seriously, I’m never too far from the snark.  So, today, I bring you true paragraphs that have nothing to do with each other.

If you think YOU were the one who rained on my parade* (more…)

Haphazard Monday

Monday, July 9th, 2007

I’m wondering if I should give up the snark and focus on the theme of late — total randomness. Seriously, I’m beginning to feel that I’m unable to pull together a complete snark filled thought, what with all the random things happening. I’m going to do what I love the most, um, a list:

  • The MacBook Pro is in FedEx’s hands to take back to the Fruit folks. I’m ever hopeful that this isn’t a huge problem and that by the end of the month, I’ll have a new computer. I am fully intending to type up a real, letter to send to them regarding my experience…I may even include my bill.
    • This just in, the non-functioning MacBook Pro is in the hands of Apple now.  I’ve got a new ship date of 7/13 to 7/17.  Will time fly?
  • I recently bought train tickets online for an upcoming trip. The tickets arrived and I looked at them. Something was odd. Now, I’m forced to ask you, if you buy TWO tickets at the same time, with the same last name and the same credit card; do you think these two people MIGHT want to sit together? No? Well, it seems the rail company didn’t think so either. I’m having to send THOSE tickets back to get my replacements that at least gets us close to each other.
  • On the 4th of July, I tried to write a post about how I don’t understand why we must celebrate our nation’s birth with fireworks. This was prompted by fireworks going off in my neighborhood (a single block away from the HIGH fire danger line) until about 11pm. I wrote it three times, they all sucked — so I’m going to have to sum up the good points.
    • I’m not a huge fan of fireworks out of the hands of professionals. Heck, to be honest, I’m pretty sure in the hands of pros, the fireworks are pretty but a huge waste of money that could be better used to pave roads, improve schools, or plant a tree or 900.
    • I often wonder if while the Declaration of Independence was being written if any of the founding fathers would have appreciated a celebration of their treason with things that sound like gunfire?
    • This past 4th, I watched one of my favorite musicals, 1776. I love the perspective that these men, while educated and ahead of their time, were merely men solving the problem before them and hoping that posterity would forgive them the parts they couldn’t solve. And amazingly enough, there isn’t a single firework in the whole show, shocking I know.
  • I’m beginning to have an addiction to Coke Zero with Vanilla. Just saying that this stuff is awesome, yet highly addictive. I do however, have no desire to try the Coke Plus, because soda as a health food kinda freaks me out.
  • Rather recently, someone attempted to rain on my parade.  I want to publicly called them out.  I want to rant and yell.  I want to make them understand this is not how we deal with people.  But I can’t.  I want to, mind you; but I can’t at least not in public.  Once I figure out how to word it, it will be in the letter.
  • Finally, I think I’ve been convinced to send my letter to Apple.  I seriously doubtit will go anywhere, but you never know, I just might get a $15 coupon to iTunes for my trouble.  But perhaps they need to know that people aren’t thrilled with the attitudes.

Insanely Random

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Oh my word — random would be the word of the day around here.  I can’t even begin to explain the joys of my randomness.   Hence, I merely bring you my random thoughts and events. (more…)

Parents Loose in PlayMobil

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Yes, I know I’ve been MIA lately. I’d love to say it is because I’ve had SO much going on that I just couldn’t see straight, but that just wouldn’t be true. The reality is that I’ve fought a 3 day long headache, I’m not sleeping well at night, and I’ve been more than a wee bit grumpy. While my grumpy is normally great fodder for a blog post, it isn’t good fodder for my life returning to normal/sanity, thus I took a much needed little vacation and hope that I’m ready to return to my full snarky self. Ahem, moving forward.

I promised to tell you all about our little trip to Playmobil. And I keep my promises. (more…)

When last we spoke…

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I’ve spent two days trying to come up with a suitable intro after being gone for a week.  Wow, has it really been that long?

To sum up my week, I’ve flown nearly 7,000 miles; eaten thousands of calories of really good food; laughed and cried with my family — sometimes at the same time; and attempted to survive on as little sleep as possible in order to not miss a second of it.  Yes, the trip was completely unexpected (at one point, I had a one way ticket with no idea when I would return home), but no, I’ve got no intentions of going into details.

I promise to tell you all about our visit here though.  (more…)
